Large Cardamom (locally called Boro Elachi) is cultivated in the foothills and hilly regions of Assam, particularly in Tinsukia and Tirap. The spice pods are dark brown to black and have a smoky, resinous aroma due to traditional wood-drying methods.
It’s widely used in tea blends, sweets, curries, and spice mixes, adding depth and warmth to food. Large Cardamom from Assam is valued for its high oil content and strong flavor.
