Why this matters

Today’s children are growing up disconnected from food

The shop, not the soil

Most children know where food is bought. Very few have seen how it is actually grown.

More screens, less soil

Rising screen time and shrinking outdoor play leave little room for hands-on learning.

Nutrition blind spots

Limited awareness of food systems, fresh produce and where everyday nutrition comes from.

Distance from nature

Fewer chances to observe plants, seasons and the farmers who feed our families.

The opportunity: a joyful, practical programme that brings food, science and responsibility back into a child’s own hands.

Our solution

A garden in every child’s hands

The Young Farmer Programme turns a child’s curiosity into real capability. Students grow vegetables over a guided 9-week journey, supported by a complete kit, a story-led comic, and friendly mentorship from start to harvest.

01

Pillar 1

The Kit

Grow bags, soil mix, seeds, tools and care inputs: everything a student needs to start on day one.

02

Pillar 2

The Story

A bilingual English–Assamese comic that teaches the whole journey through characters children love.

03

Pillar 3

The Journey

A structured path from orientation to harvest, with a garden diary, evaluation and recognition.

Pillar 1 · The kit

One kit. Everything to grow.

Every child receives a complete kit of their own. Any sunlit corner works, so no garden or laboratory is needed.

Growing essentials

2 grow bags (12 × 12), potting mix 2 kg × 2, vermicompost 500 g, neem cake 250 g and liquid plant booster 100 ml.

Seeds: 4 varieties

Coriander, spinach, fenugreek and tomato or okra, 10 g each. Easy local favourites.

Tools & accessories

Hand trowel, 300 ml spray bottle and four plant markers, sized for young hands.

Learn & explore

Gardening guide, Garden Diary, the bilingual comic The Terrace Garden, “Young Farmer” badge and QR video tutorials.

Our signature USP · Pillar 2

A story children actually want to read

“The Terrace Garden” is a bilingual English–Assamese comic, included free in every kit.

Truly bilingual

English and Assamese side by side, inclusive for every child and parent.

Locally rooted

Guwahati rooftops, lai xaak and local seasons, featuring Koka, Tikul and Zubeen.

Learning through story

The full gardening journey taught as a narrative children remember.

A keepsake to keep

Doubles as a take-home book that families read again and again.

What sets us apart

Why the Young Farmer Programme stands apart

Bilingual comic

A story-led English–Assamese learning companion no other kit offers.

Built for the Northeast

Crops, seasons and watering tuned to Guwahati’s heavy rain and strong sun.

Real, hands-on growing

Children care for a living plant for nine weeks, not a one-off classroom activity that ends at the bell.

Affordable & low-waste

Reused containers and a kitchen-compost loop keep cost and footprint low.

Expert-designed

Authored by an agriculture and forestry specialist: credible and age-appropriate.

Measurable outcomes

Garden diary, photo log and evaluation make learning visible and assessable.

What nine weeks build

Mapped to what you already teach

Science & EVS

A life cycle they can hold

Germination, soil, water and pollination, watched week by week on their own plant.

Nutrition

Food with a source

A child who has grown spinach eats it differently. The harvest goes home.

Sustainability

The loop, closed

Peels to compost, compost to soil, soil to lunch: a cycle the children run.

Character

Nine weeks of turning up

A plant that needs water on a Tuesday teaches patience no worksheet can.
